Updates from Russia

By Olga Kirsanova

Anna is now thirteen years old. She plays cello every day and performs at concerts and contests as a soloist, an ensemble, trio and orchestra member. She won several prises for her performances last year and is looking forward to participate in new musical challenges this year. Anna loves to draw and she is studying in art school with a grade card full of “A”s. Her artworks won different art competitions and were taken by her school to be shown to students as examples. Anna also enjoys studying in school, writing for Russian literature contests (she got a second place at a national writers competition), winning in School Academical Olympics (she got first place in English, geography, biology and social studies last year), reading English books and playing badminton.
Mark is seven now. He just started his first grade in Russian public school and is doing very well in his academical studies. Playing cello is still his passion. He is looking forward to performing at his first concert as an ensemble member that is going to take place in December. Mark does wrestling and is going to participate his first championship next year. Also, he likes to attend art lessons. Painting with gouache is his favourite technique. In his free time he enjoys reading English books, making crafts from clay and sketching. And playing Minecraft, of course.
Alex is just a sweet little girl. She is two and a half, loves studying Russian letters (she already knows all of them and trying to read the cyllables), drawing and doing gymnastics. We can’t wait to start teaching her English, too. Oh, and Alexandra adores monkeys)
Sergey works as a sales representative in Caterpillar. He is still on lockdown, since the pandemic is raging out on the streets, but, never the less, he goes on meetings and business trips. Sergey’s main goal is to improve his English and learn new languages and skills that will help him connect with more people around the globe.
Olga is raising children at home. Whenever she’s free, she enjoys reading and cooking.
All of us are enjoying movies in English without translation and Russian subtitles. This is really great!
We are very grateful Lori for her English and Americal culture lessons. They were very helpful and enjoyable. She hasn’t been an ordinary, boring English teacher, but a part of our family, a best friend. We’ll never forget how helpful she was when we were trying to get around in America when we first moved. We still keep in touch with her.
